みなさんは「モノリシックデザイン」って聞いたことがあるでしょうか？
ＳＯＮＹはこの春から発売した液晶ＴＶ「ブラビア」のデザインを『モノリシックデザイン』と言っています。
「モノリシック」という言葉はありますが、それにデザインをつけて、一つの"スタイル"とした言葉として使ったのは、このブラビアが初めてではないでしょうか？
「モノリシック」とは、「一枚板の」という意味で、それをデザインとして、一枚の板のような"シンプルな"デザインとして打ち出しています。それは、家具のように居室と調和しながら、それでいて存在感のあるものを意味しています。
これがそのブラビアですが、とてもシンプルです。
これはリモコンですが、裏を返して置いておくことを意識してデザインされています。
私の家のＴＶもブラビアです。
３年ほど前に家を建てるときに買ったもので、これがＴＶとリビングです。
その時、リビングに合うＴＶを探していて、ブラビアにしたのですが、当時もデザイン性は他と違ったような気がします。（リモコンはいたって普通なので、リモコンだけでも替えたくなってきます。）
今回のブラビアは、洋室でも和室でも、それだけでなく、竹やぶでも砂漠といった直接関係ない場面に置いた検証も進めたらしく、どこにおいても違和感がないデザインとなったそうです。
さてさて、「モノリシックデザイン」、この言葉がどこまで広がっていくでしょうか。
